1st BMW ActiveE Comes to the US

The moment we've been waiting for has finally happened! The first BMW ActiveE, BMW's highly-acclaimed luxury EV, has finally hit U.S. soil. The proud owners? Two "Electronauts", who are not only leasing the new BMW EV but providing the German automaker with feedback: Tom and Meredith Maloughney.

Of course, the Maloughneys represent only two Electronauts who will be giving BMW feedback on the ActiveE, over the next two years. Others will as well - all in an effort to help BMW tweak the forthcoming BMW i3 EV to beyond perfection by the time it rolls into showrooms (i.e., Preston BMW), next year.

Speaking on Tom's and Meredith's participation in their Electronaut program, Ludwig Willisch, CEO, BMW North America says, " Calling the Maloughney's 'Pioneers' is very appropriate because they have shown the world that an electric vehicle can absolutely serve one's daily driving needs without compromise. We learned a lot from all of our experience with the MINI E and we are looking forward to learning more in these next two years with the BMW ActiveE as we prepare for the first of the BMW i models in 2013."1
